Judy Futch

Judy serves as a leadership and strategic planning consultant to college and educational institutions, health care, for-profit and nonprofit organizations. She has consulted with organizations on issues of establishment, service delivery improvement, organizational re-design, staff retention, recruitment and consolidation. She co-designed and led coaching performance training programs for organizations, taught "Multi-Cultural Aspects of Conflict Resolution" and "School Based Violence Prevention" Master level classes at the University of Hawaii, and is on the adjunct faculty of the Center for Creative Leadership.

Basing her consultation on Appreciative Inquiry methodology, a strengths based approach, Judy has incorporated the tenants of appreciative inquiry into mediation services, strategic planning, values "surfacing", mission definition and systems expansion and reinvention. She focuses her work on the human dimension of change and transition as well as coaching organizations on strategies and collaborations for success.

Judy has an Ed.S. degree in Human Relations and a M.Ed. in Counseling and Psychological Services from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia. She has received additional training in facilitation, mediation, dialogue, appreciative inquiry and Jungian psychology. She is certified as a Mediator in North Carolina.

She directed the Management Education Program at Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, NC for 5 years working with community based health programs and hospitals. As Mental Health Education Director at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC, she established the mental health education department and developed a comprehensive information service program and a psychiatric residency rotation at area community mental health programs. She directed a community treatment program for people with chronic mental illness in southwestern Michigan, serving as a liaison with psychiatric facilities and community programs.

Hobbies & Interests

Canoeing, sea kayaking, biking, exploring, watching the mountains move from my deck I have sea kayaked for 9 days in Glacier Bay, Alaska, traversed the length of Everglades via canoe, paddled the Nahanni River in the Northwest Territories, Canada and spent my honeymoon on the Chattooga River. My husband and I are building a "cabinette" on the Bay of Fundy.
