- Economic Development Service Team
This team designed “The Asheville Adventure” for attracting SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) owners to the Asheville area by providing them with maps of two routes, each containing points of interest in the areas of: historical architectural and notable sites; recreation and entertainment locations; shopping; and lodging facilities.

- Education Service Team
This team compiled “A Mentor’s Guide to Summer Shadows.” Summer Shadows is a project of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce in which local businessmen and women provide guidance to high school students who are interested in various occupations and professions. The Guide defines and describes the mentoring process and is full of useful information to help create a successful program for both mentor and mentee.

This team walked all over Asheville/Buncombe County and recorded their findings for 33 locations. “Walkabout Trails of Asheville/Buncombe County” is available on disk or hard copy, showing trail location, map, information source, parking, surface, difficulty, pets’ welcomeness, distance, restrooms, seasons, and special features.

This team surveyed several local civic clubs to determine if women and African- American applicants have equal opportunity for membership and leadership positions within clubs. The team concluded that barriers may exist in these areas and suggested that the clubs may need proactive recruiting strategies.

- Quality of Life Service Team
This team advanced the Education Team’s project from Leadership Asheville 15, which was designing a youth leadership program for Asheville/Buncombe County high school sophomores and juniors. The goal for this year was to establish a home base and funding for the youth program. A PowerPoint presentation was developed as a selling tool, which was frequently used in the team’s efforts to meet their goals.
