  • Economic Development Service Team
    This team worked to establish an avenue for connecting local employers and qualified employees through universities, trade schools, job fairs, and career centers.

  • Education Service Team
    This team prepared a preliminary plan for Youth Leadership Asheville, a program that targets high school students in Asheville and Buncombe County Schools.  The Team also identified the beginnings of a Youth Leadership Asheville Advisory Committee and discussed a tentative curriculum for the program.

  • Government Service Team
    This team created a multimedia compact disk for local governments in the region to advocate for the “Asheville Program,” a successful health management program to improve the health of city workers and lower costs.

  • Infrastructure Service Team
    This team joined with the City of Asheville bus system on the placement of benches and bus shelters.  The Team rode all bus routes, interviewed bus drivers and riders determine the best locations for benches and shelters.

  • Private Sector Service Team
    This team worked to create an elder care resource directory for Asheville and Buncombe County.  In considering the “invisible issue: of elder care, the group identified five different key areas of caregiving for which there are significant and underutilized resources.

  • Quality of Life Service Team
    This team surveyed graduates of the Leadership Asheville program with the goal of helping the program to become more diverse in curriculum, participants, and process.  The Team also surveyed those who had expressed an interest in Leadership Asheville but had not applied, in order to determine obstacles to participation.
